In the beginning ...

Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm Ty Johnston, writer of sword and sorcery tales and more, whatever I feel like writing.
At this time I am working on the third novel in my "Kobalos" trilogy, a fantasy story. The first book is finished, though I'm always tinkering and editing it, and the second book too is nearly done after a recent second rewrite and some editing.
The first book had a working title of "Son of Kobalos" but of late I've been calling it "City of Rogues." The second book has a working title of "Road to Kobalos," while the third book has a working title of "Dark King of Kobalos."
I'm currently shopping the first book around to publishers and agents. So far I've had no acceptances, but I've had some positive responses.
Got to run! I'll add more here in the future.

  1. I like "City of Rogues" better as a title. Having read the book, I think it captures the ensemble feel of your work better.

  2. How odd. I never even realised I didn't know its title. I assumed it was just "Ty's Kron Thing."

  3. I'm toying around with "real" titles for the second and third books. So far I'm leaning toward "Road to Ruin" or "Road of Wrath" for the second book and "Dark King of the North" for the third book.
I'm not sure it really matters. If I ever get these things published, the publisher will likely rename them any way.

  4. Hey, congrats on the blog and the books! I like the constant theme of places in your projected titles - city, road, North. Anyhoo, keep on writing!

  5. Oh, and I'd recommend turning on that comment verification choice on your settings - I didn't do it at first either and last month got hit with hundreds of spam comments.

  6. Hey Howard!
    Welcome to the blog!
Thanks for the advice on the word verification. It's now turned on.
Hope to see more of you around here.
