Finished the first draft of the climax to my trilogy last night! Yahoo!!!
Now on to the anti-climax, and sorting out loose ends.
Three chapters more max, maybe two if I'm lucky.
Ahhhhhhh! The light at the end of the tunnel is near!
Though I still have plenty of rewriting and editing to do.
I'm so excited, I'm already getting ideas for my next novel or two.
wow! yayaya! i wrote some utter poop tonight, it's cringe worthy. what do i know about lopping someones head off with a sword? i need to read up on it or something. =) congrats to you! that's awesome! i'm jealous. i wish i was "overtaken" by a trilogy.
ReplyDeleteCindy, if you need advice about the logistics of lopping off heads with swords, ask zornhau, a fellow writer. From what I know, his experience in steel weapons is European, but he can probably still offer advice. His blog is over at zornhau.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Ty.

haha, thanks for the tip, ty. i think i need more help with my writing than the logistics of it. tho i have yet to go back to reread, maybe it isn't all that bad??
ReplyDeleteI suggest no rereading for a while, maybe not until you're finished with your novel's first draft. A little time can help give you fresh eyes on a piece; sometimes you'll find it was utter garbage, other times you'll think "Hey, that's pretty nifty." Still other times you'll go "Eh, it doesn't suck."
ReplyDeleteAs for lopping off heads, I've some little experience with swords (I own a golfbag full of battle-ready weapons -- yes, I said golfbag -- and I've had some very basic stage training in dueling with rapiers, sabers and two-handed swords). From what I've experienced in practice, and from reading, it's not as easy to lop off a head as many fantasy writer's would have us believe (but neither is it an impossible task, just not easy to accomplish). I don't know much about Eastern weapons, but perhaps a good katana (and overall lack of metal armor) makes it easier to chop through a neck.
I think this means we'd better get serious about reading Book 2, Steve.

Steve, don't sweat it. I've still got to go back and give the first book another edit.
