Disturbing coincidences

My wife recently told me she is in love with Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report and the Colbert Nation.

So, of course, I have to investigate and find out who this man is who is stealing the love of my life. I had seen his show a few times, but of late I've been watching it quite a bit. And I found a lot of curious coincidences:

  1. Colbert and I share the same middle name.

  2. We are both white, male Southerners.

  3. We both graduated from college with degrees in journalism.

  4. He and I have both worked at newspapers.

  5. We have both played Dungeons & Dragons and are big fans of role-playing games.

  6. Colbert, like myself, is a huge fan of fantasy and science fiction.

These coincidences are just too unlikely. Now I understand why my other half loves this man. Who am I to deprive her of her fantasy?

  1. Tyler Tyrone Johnston?

I knew of the man, don't watch any of his shows, and find his love of fantasy rather interesting - and good to hear of.

  2. I've never said my name was Tyler. Lots of people call me that, though, and it doesn't bother me.

Nope, Ty is short for Tyrone. My first name is a secret. The Feds might be listening.

  3. I knew that - just trying to get you to slip up. One of my best friends growing up was 1 of a family of 9 and their family tradition was to use the middle name. So was it the same for you - or is this just an little trait o' yours?

  4. I use my middle name because my dad and I have the same first name. It’s just easier that way. And it sounds weird when someone calls me by my dad’s name.
