At Nerdarchy.com: I skip D&D editions

Even though I've played D&D for at least 35 years now (wow, that sounds like a long time), I've not played every single edition, or at least I've not played very much of some editions. Why? Find out more at my weekly Nerdarchy.com article.

I didn't even know there were editions.

Yep. Officially there are 5.5 editions. How .5? Because 3rd edition also had a 3.5. Literally, they called it 3.5.

But the truth is a lot more complicated. There's probably something like 10 editions, or maybe even more. In the early days, there were usually 3 or 4 different versions of the game all available at once, or close, though those have all been considered "1st" edition or are not considered at all. Then there's Pathfinder, which legally isn't D&D, even though it's basically D&D 3.75. And there are a number of other games which all make use of various D&D rules over the years.

Yeah, it can get complicated.
